As we go about our daily endeavours, there are moments when God visits with the sole purpose of searching our hearts, testing our intentions and examining our thoughts. The Psalmist acknowledges this divine scrutiny while saying, "Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing" (Psalm 17:3). This verse reminds us that our motives and desires are not hidden from God. They may be restricted from man's invasion but certainly not from the reach of the Almighty God. Now as believers on our way to Heaven, we are to live with the consciousness of presenting our thoughts to the refinement of God's word. Just as silver is purified in the fire, our hearts can be purified under God's watchful eye. We must also be sure to conform with the Psalmist declaration in Psalm 17:3b, "I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress".
