Who Are You
Travelling With?

✦   Key Verse
"And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand."
— Exodus 4:20

Life is a journey fraught with many twists and turns. Disasters and dangers lurk along the way, just like success and victory. The experiences encountered in life are often contributed partly by the outcome of the company we keep as we go on this journey. Regrettably, many people go through life either alone or in the wrong company. How different they are from Moses!

God had commanded Moses to return to Egypt on probably the greatest mission any man had undertaken up till then. He was to convince Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, to set free the Israelites and allow them to leave his nation. On his part, Moses who had settled into a regular life of a family man, was now being taken from his comfort zone and sent on an arduous duty. With the backing of his father-in-law, Jethro, he gathered his wife and sons, and embarked on the journey.

"Israel is my son… let my son go, that he may serve me."

God warned him that it was not going to be an easy task convincing Pharaoh to free the Israelites. He was, however, to remain consistent with his message: "Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son… let my son go, that he may serve me." As he pondered over this heavy assignment on his way back to Egypt, he encountered another serious challenge: God threatened to kill his son who he had not circumcised. Until his wife, reluctantly and with much complaint, obeyed and circumcised their son, the journey was almost aborted.

You need something to stabilise your heart and reassure you as you go through life. You need the presence and power of God with you. With Him on your side, you will not fear what man can do to you. Allow His word to guide you, believe His promises that cannot fail, obey every command of His and look unto Jesus constantly; you will neither fail nor fall.

Challenge
Endeavour to walk with God. It makes surmounting life's obstacles easy.
Prayer
Almighty Father, enable me to obey You outrightly, in Jesus Name. Amen.

DO NOT DEPAIR

Having found out whom God is... DO NOT DESPAIR TEXT: PSALM 13:1-6 Key verse: “How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?” (Psalm 13:1) . Life throws up new challenges every day. This often makes the believer begin to think that God had abandoned him. Except he rouses himself up, he would become discouraged and lose all hope that help would ever come to him. David got to that point many times in his numerous battles in life. He probably prayed and fasted for long periods, but the onslaught of the enemy did not end. He was running out of options, hence he spoke in desperation to God. He seemed to conclude that He had forsaken him and wondered how long God would hide himself, and how long he was going to be abandoned to himself, getting ever more sorrowful daily. He was troubled that the enemy seemed to be triumphing over him; ...

NO SHORTCUT

If it is to be done aright, be rest assured that there is... NO SHORTCUT BELIEVERS' DIGEST PUBLICATION Bible Reading: 1 KINGS 15:16-24 Key Verse: “There is a league between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me” (1 Kings 15:19). Men always seek shortcut to success in life. Rather than live by God’s righteous standard, they seek to achieve success by any means possible. They justify their action by arguing that the end does indeed justify the means. This is despite their moral failings and character flaws, all of which contravene God’s expectations from His children. Such was the beginning of the end for King Asa, who had begun well to rule Judah and had introduced gr...

A GEM OF SPECTACULAR INFLUENCE

WINNERS' INTEREST PUBLICATION A GEM OF SPECTACULAR INFLUENCE Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 3:19-21 (KJV) Key Verse: “And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground” (1 Samuel 3:19). The world, in which we live today is filled with corrupting influences. This forms the basis of God's call to His people to rise as rare treasures of purity and power. A “Gem of Spectacular Influence” is not an ordinary person. It describes a believer whose life carries unique, enduring value that transcends fleeting worldly trends. Like a precious gem that retains its brilliance even in darkness, such a life reflects resolute determination to pursue excellence in glorifying God, undimmed by surrounding negativity. The story of Samuel powerfully illustrates this truth. Raised in the tabernacle at Shiloh under the aged priest Eli, Samuel was surrounded by evil practices. Eli’s sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were notorious for ...
