THE UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE

University was fun for Antonia. Being an easy-going person, making friends was not a difficult task. Her friends were mostly made up of the male folk. She was very serious with her studies and never allowed any distraction to divert her attention from the purpose of being in school. Many of the guys tried to woo her over but she turn them down. Her female friends were surprised and they did not hide it.
"Antonia, I have not seen you in any serious affair with any of your many male admirers" said Michelle while they were on their way to the lecture theatre one afternoon. Michelle was a friend and a course mate. She was nurturing an intimate relationship with a male folk and expected every girl to do same. Mary also shared a similar view with Michelle during their conversation. "I am not ready for any of such," said Antonia with a smile on her face. She did not want to scare her female friends away by her opinion.
"Come of that, do not try to play the saint here. You must have had at least a boyfriend before you resumed schooling," Michelle said. "No!" Replied Antonia while narrating the reason for sticking to her decision to her friends. Her younger sister had being a victim of such unhealthy relationship which got her pregnant at an earlier age. The person responsible denied ever having an affair with her.  As she explained further, her friends hissed and said "at least you must have had intercourse". With a smile, she told her friends that she had made up her mind never to be involved in relationship of such kind until she got married.
Antonia's mother had said it was a thing of honour and dignity for a girl to be found a virgin on her wedding night. Although many ladies on campus did not share the same view, it had a way of influencing Antonia's decision. When friends thought virginity was old school and very archaic, she addend on keeping herself until her wedding day. She was confronted with many questions. One of which was "what if the man you preserved yourself is impotent, how would you know?". Michelle threw this question at Antonia. The question threw her off balance a while. As thoughts started pouring into her head, she pondered on how she would handle such. "I wish you the best with your decision" added Michelle while laughing, mockingly.
One day, Mary and Michelle asked Antonia to accompany them to visit the one of their elder brother Fredrick. Fredrick had always liked Antonia. He sometimes sent gifts to her during his days of visit to their school. He was married with two children. That fateful day, they had barely arrived, when Mary and Michelle excused themselves. They said they wanted to visit a nearby friend. Mary's elder brother had his music system playing very loud songs. Not long after they were gone, Fredrick started making some advances towards Antonia. She tried to get away but the door was locked. He was able to force his way through her and took away her virginity.
Before her friends returned, the deed was done. Fredrick gave them some money to keep it a secret. Antonia had to live with the shame. The shame kept her indoors for weeks. She vowed never to visit a man's house ever again.

THE GOOD FRUIT OF EVERY GOOD TREE

In the Holy Bible, specifically in the book of Matthew chapter 7, verse 17, it is written: "Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit." It is important to remember that most trees are known by the fruit they bear but as we digest this piece, let us not be quick to forget the spiritual principle that states that good actions will always yield good results, just as a good tree will yield good fruit. During the course of living our daily lives, we may have encountered situations where our actions and choices determined the outcomes we experience. This is a true reflection of this moral principle. However, the teachings of JESUS CHRIST as outlined in the Holy Bible must still serve as the guiding light for believers who seek to live righteous and fruitful lives. The fruit of a tree is a reflection of the health and vitality of the tree itself. Similarly, the choices and actions of every Christian showcases the character of g...

The Benevolence That Renews Our Minds

In a world often fraught with stress, conflict, and uncertainty, finding inner peace and contentment can feel like an elusive dream. However, the ageless wisdom from God Almighty sheds light on the transformative power of a renewed mind while revealing to us the path that leads towards benevolence and fulfilment.   The concept of a renewed mind is emphasized in Romans 12:2. It states, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This verse encourages us to network our thoughts and ensure that it is in tune with the truth neptuned in God’s Will. A renewed mind foils the sense of inner peace and harmony. It allows us to view life's challenges through a lens of faith and resilience. Philippians 4:7 beautifully captures this promise, "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus...

ESSENTIAL NUTRIENTS FOR GREATNESS

Most things in life survive with the nutrition they get from ingesting food. Everything we take into our nervous system either acts to heal us or to destroy us. We must therefore ensure that we consider consuming those with the potentials for providing healing and reject every other. Do not think of nourishment only as what we take in through our mouths. What we consume with our eyes, our ears, our noses, our tongues, and our bodies also constitute the nutrients we feed on. Reasonable contribution and inputs that we occasionally deliver during the conversations we engage ourselves in on daily basis can only be possible by feeding on enriching and nourishing nutrients. We are not expected to neglect consistent consumption of healthy food both emotionally, physically and spiritually because they help in making us modern versions of the mind edifice that guarantees the indemnification of moral sanctity. Think about it this way. If moral sanctity blossom, the society will be filled with mo...
