AVOID FRAUDULENT GAINS

The Holy Bible warns against gaining wealth through fraudulent and deceitful means, and instead emphasizes the importance of honest labour and integrity in all our dealings. Proverbs 21:6 states, "The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death." This illustration here is one that amplifies the warning about the fleeting nature of wealth gained through dishonesty and how it ultimately leads to destruction. It is a reminder that ill-gotten gains are futile and will not bring lasting fulfillment.

The book of Proverbs also cautions us against the pursuit of wealth at the expense of our souls and the moral principles of Christ's teachings opens our eyes to these facts. Proverbs 16:8 advises, "Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right." Thie emphasis on the importance of this ethical conduct and integrity in all financial transactions is one that should not be taken with levity. It encourages individuals to prioritize righteousness over material wealth and ephemeral gains while recognizing that true riches come from living an upright and virtuous life.

Furthermore, the Holy Bible condemns the act of oppressing others for meretricious gain. Proverbs 22:16 firmly states, "He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want." This verse serves as a stark warning against exploiting the less fortunate in pursuit of wealth, as it ultimately leads to impoverishment. It emphasizes the principle of reaping what one sows, and the consequences of exploiting others for selfish gain.

In addition to Proverbs, the New Testament also provides guidance on the pursuit of wealth. 1 Timothy 6:9-10 warns, "But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." This passage highlights the dangers of placing wealth and material possessions above spiritual values, and how it can lead to moral downfall and ruin.

As believers, it is crucial to adhere to biblical principles in all aspects of life, including financial matters. Ephesians 4:28 encourages honest labour and generosity, stating, "Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth." This verse emphasizes the importance of diligent work and ethical conduct, and the responsibility to use one's resources to help those in need.

As the Holy Bible provides clear guidance on the pursuit of wealth and the importance of honest labour and integrity, it is therefore pertinent to conclude on this note while stating clearly that we are to ensure all our financial dealings are in accordance with God's justice system. His warning against gaining wealth through deceitful measure, oppressing the poor, and prioritizing material possessions over spiritual values must not be pushed aside by a wave of hand. Instead, it should be courageously practiced by individuals whose utmost desire is to abide with the Righteous King forevermore. We must not take His generosity for granted. His ethical standards must be adhered to the latter in all aspects of life. By so doing, believers can avoid fraudulent gains and strive for true, lasting riches that emerges from living a life of Holiness.

God bless you.

DO NOT DEPAIR

Having found out whom God is... DO NOT DESPAIR TEXT: PSALM 13:1-6 Key verse: “How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?” (Psalm 13:1) . Life throws up new challenges every day. This often makes the believer begin to think that God had abandoned him. Except he rouses himself up, he would become discouraged and lose all hope that help would ever come to him. David got to that point many times in his numerous battles in life. He probably prayed and fasted for long periods, but the onslaught of the enemy did not end. He was running out of options, hence he spoke in desperation to God. He seemed to conclude that He had forsaken him and wondered how long God would hide himself, and how long he was going to be abandoned to himself, getting ever more sorrowful daily. He was troubled that the enemy seemed to be triumphing over him; ...

NO SHORTCUT

If it is to be done aright, be rest assured that there is... NO SHORTCUT BELIEVERS' DIGEST PUBLICATION Bible Reading: 1 KINGS 15:16-24 Key Verse: “There is a league between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me” (1 Kings 15:19). Men always seek shortcut to success in life. Rather than live by God’s righteous standard, they seek to achieve success by any means possible. They justify their action by arguing that the end does indeed justify the means. This is despite their moral failings and character flaws, all of which contravene God’s expectations from His children. Such was the beginning of the end for King Asa, who had begun well to rule Judah and had introduced gr...

WINNERS' INTEREST PUBLICATION A GEM OF SPECTACULAR INFLUENCE Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 3:19-21 (KJV) Key Verse: “And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground” (1 Samuel 3:19). The world, in which we live today is filled with corrupting influences. This forms the basis of God's call to His people to rise as rare treasures of purity and power. A “Gem of Spectacular Influence” is not an ordinary person. It describes a believer whose life carries unique, enduring value that transcends fleeting worldly trends. Like a precious gem that retains its brilliance even in darkness, such a life reflects resolute determination to pursue excellence in glorifying God, undimmed by surrounding negativity. The story of Samuel powerfully illustrates this truth. Raised in the tabernacle at Shiloh under the aged priest Eli, Samuel was surrounded by evil practices. Eli’s sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were notorious for ...
